Well it’s been a disappointing start to the year… yesterday I was let go from my job. Although it was one of several redundancies it’s still a bit of a gut punch and the first time I’ve been laid off. Hey ho. Time to move on and get stuck into a job search.
Because of the alarming events unfolding at Twitter, like many I’ve been exploring Mastodon. I’m optimistic. You can find me at mastodon.social… or my own #indieweb website barryfrost.com.
Hottest day of the year (up around 34C) at the local village fete. Tombola win, burger, nice pint of real ale, ice cream and now home to cool down in front of the cricket.
Back at HWC London for the first time in a long long while, and thinking about making some changes around this place. While a Big Rewrite is clearly a Bad Thing, I’ve been looking for a reason to brush up on Node and wean myself off Ruby. Building a new home for myself is quite appealing. And with the Brighton 2019 IndieWebCamp coming up in October perhaps that’s a reasonable target to aim for in terms of a (rough) new site.
I’m very excited to share that I’m joining @Gumtree as CTO next week.
I can’t wait to get started with my new colleagues in the @GumtreeDevTeam and @eBay family 🎉
Nothing much further to add to #brexit. I voted for us to stay in, but now that we’re (going to be) out, the sooner we can stabilise the economy, society and politics the better. The Thick Of It’s “omnishambles” feels more appropriate a term than ever.
Enjoyable course completed in London today and I’m technically now a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). Time to terrify my teams with my shiny new knowledge.
