"- I heard more squeaking in the walls of my garden office. I put down a couple of traps in the air gap underneath, and within an hour I heard two loud bangs. No more mice. Brutal but effective.\r\n- H's football team lost 0-5 in the U10s cup to Harlow. They're having a rotten season, their first in the top division of a new league in which we're certain they should be on the rung below. It's not much fun losing almost every week.\r\n- Meanwhile the rain has been relentless and many local roads have flooded. I needed to do an embarrassing nine-point turn in the road to avoid killing my car by driving through a ford on the way back from H's football. It almost makes me want to buy a big 4x4. Almost.\r\n- Time's relentless march is now targeting my eyesight. I rarely reach for my glasses, except when reading in bed, but even looking at my laptop or phone during the day is noticeably easier with glasses. So on Saturday, I ordered a couple of extra pairs to keep around the house. Next purchase, a Zimmer frame.\r\n- And Arsenal did little to help my stress levels by only just beating Chelsea. It was hardly champagne football. As Andrew [posted](https://bsky.app/profile/aallensport.arseblog.com/post/3mcndt7h44c2h), Arsenal are going to win the league and it’s going to be a miserable experience whether you love us or hate us 🤞"
