Sitting in today’s product demo at work and realising that my age now qualifies me for our “mature” online dating sites #oldfogey

Nothing much further to add to #brexit . I voted for us to stay in, but now that we’re (going to be) out, the sooner we can stabilise the economy, society and politics the better. The Thick Of It’s “omnishambles” feels more appropriate a term than ever.

A few notes on fatherhood after my first week:

  • Even though I was warned I still took sleep for granted.
  • Changing a dirty nappy really is no big deal. But he soils them almost as quickly as I change them.
  • It’s impossible to have too many vests or baby-gros.
  • Ditto nappies and water wipes. The magic nappy bin is my friend.
  • Muslins, cloths or wipes must be within reach at all times or else.
  • For now he really does just want to feed, nap and poo all day long.
  • My wife does the feeding so I do the housework. And quite right too.
  • Leaving the house to drive to the supermarket was momentous.
  • He may have irrevocably changed our lives and we may never sleep uninterrupted again but he’s worth it.

Introducing my son, Henry Frost. I’m a very proud dad.

It’s the last day of my two-week Christmas break. Plenty of tasks ticked off the list; now it’s time to get stuck into 2015 at work.

Enjoyable course completed in London today and I’m technically now a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). Time to terrify my teams with my shiny new knowledge.

It’s been a bit quiet from me online this month: I’ve been busy getting married and honeymooning. Exhilarated, exhausted, but very happy.

POSSE

POSSE is an acronym/abbreviation for Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere. It’s a Syndication Model where the flow involves posting your content on your own domain first, then syndicating out copies to 3rd party services with perma(short)links back to the original version.

Paul Robert Lloyd

Love the typography and responsive design behind this personal site.

Aggregation and the Edge.

Paul Mison’s thoughts on aggregating your distributed content, like Tom Insam, Jeremy Keith, Phil Gyford and others. Dual purpose: for your personal website and also backup in case things all go Magnolia.

Hivelogic - Why Your Avatar Matters

Consistent use of the same avatar in all services helps associate the account with you. I’ve been using the same (cheesy) photo everywhere for the last couple of years.

My first play with iMovie using footage from an airship over Internet World last month. Turn up the sound! Very cheesy.

The vanishing personal site

Later

My first stab at a Google App Engine app. It’s hardly original - a Read Later clone - but it’s been a fun learning experience of Python and GAE
