- My car is away being repaired after it was clipped in a car park before Christmas.
- I’m borrowing a Mercedes A-Class from the garage in the meantime. After 18 months with a fast EV, it’s a dinosaur. It may be brand new, with wireless CarPlay and a fancy electronic dashboard, but under the bonnet is a sluggish, noisy, petrol-burning engine. Once you go electric you can’t go back.
- Having consumed hours of video and articles, I joined the hype train, starting an £18/month subscription for Claude Code. I’ve since spent more time in the app/iOS experience than at the CLI or in VSCode. Kicking off remote tasks on side projects and watching it beaver away on a branch is addictive. I still want to review the PRs it creates, but it’s a scarily good developer.
- I also have a one-month free trial of ChatGPT. I’m mostly using it for chat and images for now, but I intend to kick the Codex tyres to compare it to Claude Code.
- H had a one-off dodgeball match against a local school. I didn’t realise it was a real sport outside of the film. They lost. I don’t think he’s keen for another match. Let’s stick to football, cricket and rugby.
- Talking of which, over the weekend I drove him to football (a heroic 3-3 draw) and took his younger brother to a very noisy indoor cricket session in Welwyn. We then watched Arsenal win well away at Leeds and our rivals slip up. That title is getting closer.
